Who’s Going to Sell Your House?

So you’ve decided that you’re going to sell your house. Now you have to decide if you’re going to sell it yourself or hire a real estate agent to do it for you. Unless you’ve had experience selling real estate, you may want to hire a real estate agent to do it for you. Here’s why:

They know the market. A real estate agent will be able to give you an accurate number for what your home is worth and potentially how to make it worth even more. They’ll be able to suggest updates or improvements to give the home in order to get the most you can. Plus, they’re very familiar with where the market is and what you can expect to receive.

They have much more experience than you. In this aspect, we’re talking contracts. They know how they work, what they should entail, and how to negotiate them. You may be a good negotiator yourself, but when it comes to the legal stuff, it may be in your best interest to leave it to the pros.

They know people. You’ll get a much wider exposure through their networks, resources, other real estate agents, and may possibly even already have the perfect buyers for your home. Even better, they’ll be able to weed out the buyers who aren’t financially situated to seriously make a bid on your home (i.e. they haven’t gotten a pre-approval yet.)

If you’re trying to weigh the options of hiring a real estate agent or not, consider these factors. In most cases it may be worth your while to hire one.

Which option would you go with to sell your home and why?
